The biomedical laboratory is a central part of Wasso Hospital. Sister Madeleine Somo leads the department and works with five laboratory technicians.

The department operates around the clock and analyses samples including blood, urine, stool and saliva. Its work supports the diagnosis and monitoring of conditions such as tuberculosis, HIV, malaria, syphilis, hepatitis, typhoid, brucellosis and meningitis.
