Care and Treatment Clinic for HIV/AIDS & TB Patients
The Care and Treatment Service is composed of the head of Department Moses Peter and 4 other people : a nurse, a Data Officer, a clinic officer and a Counselor.
This department is dealing with Tuberculose’s Patient and HIV Patient.
When a patient is diagnosed with TB, he has to stay at the ward for 2 weeks. Then, after this period, he can go back home with a medical treatment.
After two months, the patient has to come back to the service to do new investigations. If the results are good, XRay is not necessary. Otherwise, treatment and investigations in 6 months will be required.
Thanks to the public pharmacy, financed by the government, all the drugs are free. Nevertheless, Xray, ESR or Blood pictures are not. Find attached the price of each medical analysis.
For HIV patients, all drugs are free as well. Nevertheless, some checkup investigations are chargeable. In addition, because of social stigma,
a lot of Tanzanians are not doing tests and sometimes, they are admitted in the service with an advanced stage of the disease. Per week, the department responds approximately to 10 appointments.
It is important to notice that in Tanzania, 4.5% of the population is suffering from HIV, and scientists have established a causal link between HIV and tuberculosis.
