REPRODUCTIVE AND CHILD HEALTH

Wasso Hospital offers a department called : Reproductive and Child Health. Furaha Seiyai is the head of this department, working in collaboration with 2 others, 8 hours per day. This service welcomes pregnant women and kids between 0 and 5 years old.

For pregnant women, the department is providing personal support on health education, preparation for childbirth, nutrition tips and advice for a healthy pregnancy. As well, the department is giving medications in prevention of anemia or malaria. For kids under 5 years old, the department is giving vaccination, education on nutrition, prevention of diseases…

Thanks to the public pharmacy of Wasso Hospital, all the medication is given for free to the patient. For coming to this department, patients do not have to require an appointment, which is very time-saving.

Nevertheless, the Reproductive and Child Health Department still needs help to increase its impact. With an average of 200 kids per month, doctors are observing a lot of malnutrition at Wasso Hospital. Working on a computer with an easy system and database is not acquired. This department is looking for more staff, especially volunteers that want to play a concrete role in prevention of disease and malnutrition, in direct contact with children and pregnant women.
